The 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show took place on October 16 at the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn Navy Yard, New York City. This highly anticipated event marked the brand’s first show since 2018 and aimed to address past criticisms by embracing inclusivity and celebrating all women.

In 2018, the previous CEO, Ed Razek, faced backlash for making controversial comments in an interview, which contributed to the brand's decline in popularity throughout the pandemic. However, as of September 9, 2024, Hillary Super became the brand's new CEO. With this, the show took a refreshing direction, featuring multiple curvy and transgender models. This included 15% of the models being over 40 years old, making it the most diverse lineup in the brand’s history.

Gigi Hadid opened the show in a light pink sleep set with feathered wings that expanded as she walked down the runway beneath the words, “We’re Back.” Chappell Roan’s hit song, “Femininomenon” played in the background as a fitting introduction to this year's show.

Cher headlined the event, performing a medley of “Believe” and “Strong Enough” in a glittery black pantsuit. The lineup also included Tyla and Lisa from BlackPink, making this the first all-women performer roster.

Adriana Lima returned to the runway after her retirement in 2018, showcasing a strappy black two-piece and unique plaid sleeves and pants. To complete the look, Lima wore Iridescent pink wings.

Ashley Graham spoke to Access Hollywood about her experience as a curvy 33-year-old model in the Victoria’s Secret show. She touches on the brand's growth in recent years and hints that sizing may become more inclusive in the near future. She talks about what it's like to be a mom of 3 and a supermodel, inspiring mothers and women everywhere.

Kate Moss, 50, walked in a sheer black lace gown over a matching one-piece, radiating confidence and expertise. Her daughter, Lila Moss, 22, made her VS debut in a blush-pink outfit with a mop-like fringed shawl and custom wings spelling “Lila” over her right shoulder, and “VS” over her left shoulder.

Alex Consani and Valentina Sampaio made history as the first transgender models to walk the VS runway.

Tyra Banks closed the show in a dramatic black outfit, with a sparkling corset and flowing cape. This was her first appearance for VS since 2005, making her the perfect veteran to close the show.

Despite these advancements, some critics argue that the inclusion of a few curvy models is not enough. They express concerns that the show still falls short of fully including and appreciating all women. While the response to this year's changes was more favorable than in the past, many feel the brand needs to do more to genuinely embrace inclusivity.

The 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show represents a step forward, but the journey toward true inclusivity continues.
